Tritons Knock Off Fighting Dachshunds, 6-4
|
The Jersey City Tritons beat the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds, 6-4. Jersey City pitcher and Maracaibo, Venezuela, native António Pineda led the way. Pineda got the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed 4 hits and walked 3 over 5.1 innings. Pineda allowed 3 runs. Bill Mitchell was credited with the save for Jersey City, his 4th of the season.
Jersey City used a well-timed hit by Ed Hicks to capture the win. The catcher socked a 2-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Tritons ahead, 6-3. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We'll hit the hot tub in good spirits tonight," said Pineda.
The Tritons move to 34-31 with the win, while the Fighting Dachshunds drop to 23-42.
