Fighting Dachshunds Beat Thunderbirds, 9-8
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds turned back the Hamilton Thunderbirds, 9-8, at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. Andrew Smith, in particular, had a fine performance. He went 3 for 5 with a home run and a double, while scoring 2 and driving in 3. The winner was Ricardo Pérez in relief. His record improves to 3-0. Gregory Gilbert took the loss. Bailey Telfer earned the save for Ellenburg, his 3rd of the year.

Ellenburg used the clutch hitting of William Moore to capture the win. The second baseman drilled a 2-run double in the top of the seventh inning to give the Fighting Dachshunds the lead, 7-4. For the game, Moore had 1 single and 1 double in 5 at-bats.

Fighting Dachshunds manager Marvin Hayes wasn't all too pleased, despite the win, telling reporters that the performance highlighted some clear areas for improvement moving forward. He refused to be more specific, however. "I'm not gonna publicize our weaknesses," he said. "That stuff stays in the clubhouse."

The last-place Fighting Dachshunds have a record of 20-36.
