Fighting Dachshunds Get Past Jersey City for 6-5 Win
|
The Jersey City Tritons and Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds provided some drama for the home crowd.
The Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds took Jersey City pitcher Ramón Gracés's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Jersey City Grounds. The final score had Ellenburg getting past the Tritons, 6-5. Gracés went 6.2 innings and allowed 4 runs, striking out 5. Reliever Arturo Sánchez picked up the win. His record improves to 2-0. Bob Burke took the loss.
The outcome might have been different for Ellenburg, had it not been for Jeff McDonald, the 25-year old second baseman . McDonald stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Ellenburg up, 6-5. For the game, he was 2 for 4, including 1 double and 1 single.
"We were able to get some things going offensively," said McDonald.
Ellenburg, at 15-32, holds down last place in the Menard's AAA.
