Lake Monsters Drop Thunderbirds, 5-1
|
The Vermont Lake Monsters topped the Hamilton Thunderbirds by a score of 5-1. Leading the way was left fielder Andreas Boerboom. Boerboom went 2 for 4 with a home run and a walk, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once for the Lake Monsters. Danny Dillard earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 2 hits in 2.2 innings. His record is now 3-0. Jop Abeele earned save number 2 this season.
Boerboom had a timely hit for Vermont in the top of the sixth. With Hamilton trailing 1-0, he turned a 2-1 curveball into a 3-run home run. It was his 6th home run of the season, making it 3-1, Vermont.
"It was a tough night at the plate," said Hamilton manager León Domínguez.
At 23-21, the Lake Monsters find themselves in 4th place in the Menard's AAA.
