The Baton Rouge Brass topped the Bakersfield Nobles by the score of 7-4, with the largest share of the credit going to third baseman Liam Hunt. Hunt was 2-3 with a double and a walk. He scored 3 runs for the Brass. Pedro Cruz earned the win to go to 1-0. He allowed 2 runs on 7 hits, with 2 walks and 7 strikeouts in 5.2 innings of work. Melis Ooyendijk sewed up the save, his 1st.

Baton Rouge shortstop Edmund Davis contributed a timely at-bat in the top of the second. With two down, he hit a fastball into center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 13th hit of the season and put the Brass ahead, 3-1.

"I don't feel you win baseball games by working harder than the other team or 'wanting it more,'" Davis told the Baton Rouge News. "You win just by scoring more runs."

The win brings the Brass to 2-11, an awful start for a team that made the playoffs just last season.
