The Hamilton Thunderbirds topped the Port Royal Disaster, 10-3, in M3L Triple A action at Coyote Wildlife Refuge. The game was highlighted by the performance of Hamilton pitcher Raúl Martínez. Martínez, now 4-2, was the winner. In 8.2 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 5, walking 0, and allowing 3 runs. The Thunderbirds saw their record improve to 21-20.

The Disaster had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Thunderbirds going into the bottom of the third inning. That changed quickly when the 26-year old right fielder Austin Kirkpatrick came to the plate. Kirkpatrick hit a 2-run double on a 1-2 slider from Port Royal hurler Mario Silva. It was Kirkpatrick's 2nd double of the year.

"It feels good to get this one," Martínez told the Hamilton Times.
