The Hamilton Thunderbirds beat the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds, 4-3, in part because of third baseman John Tolbert. He went 2-3 with a home run and a walk, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Steve MacDougal got credit for the win, improving to 2-0. He allowed no runs on no hits in 1.1 innings. With the win, Hamilton raised its record to 18-16.

Hamilton used the clutch hitting of Tom Rollins to capture the win. The first baseman drilled a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Thunderbirds ahead, 4-3. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"It's good to win," Rollins told the Hamilton Times. "I like to have fun doing it."
