Men Beat Fighting Dachshunds, 6-2
|
Riding the 2-hit performance of the 27-year old first baseman Phil Berry, the Florida Men stopped the Ellenburg Fighting Dachshunds, 6-2. Ignacio Pérez, the winner, improved to 2-3. He held Ellenburg to 2 runs on 6 hits over 6.2 innings, while racking up 8 strikeouts. Luis Ornelas got credit for the save for Florida. It was his 1st of the year.
Berry had an important at-bat with the bases loaded in the bottom of the sixth, when he drew a walk, driving in 1 run. The Men went on to win.
"I had a good feeling about this game even before we took the field," Berry, who leads the 3AAA in bases on balls with 24, told the Florida News. "I'm glad it wasn't just gas."
Florida, at 14-15, sits in 7th place in the Menard's AAA.
