Port Royal starter Steve Sanford put a stranglehold on the Calgary offense. The right-hander had complete command of his cutter in leading the Disaster to a 4-1 win. Sanford went 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 2, and struck out 7. His record improves to 1-0. Dave Green earned save number 7 this season.

Esteban Burr took Roberto Esparza deep in the top of the fifth. His solo home run put the Disaster on top, 1-0. In all, Burr had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 4.

"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Burr told the Port Royal Times.

Port Royal, at 11-15, holds down 11th place in the Menard's AAA.
