The Vermont Lake Monsters got a superb performance from pitcher Miguel Pérez. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Hamilton. The Thunderbirds won the game, 5-2. Pérez threw 6.1 innings of 3-hit ball. The winner was Willie Wooton in relief. His record improves to 2-1. Miguel Pérez took the loss. The defeat makes Vermont 6-7.
Hamilton used the timely hitting of Flynn Ford to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the seventh inning to put the Thunderbirds on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 3 at-bats, but it was a game-changer.
"We'll put that win in the can," said Ford, "and go after the next one."
