San Mateo Dirty Reds starter Yin-reng Fong was in fine form against the Oakland Oaks at The Oak Grove, leading his team to a win, 4-3. Cisco García picked up the save for San Mateo, his 7th of the year. The last-place Dirty Reds are now 11-17, the Oaks 16-12.

The game was at a stalemate until center fielder Daniel MacKinder came to bat in the top of the ninth. Facing Oakland pitcher Terry Lesage, he hit a 0-1 fastball for a run-scoring single. It was a game-changer, putting San Mateo on top, 4-3.

"We need to keep playing good baseball," Fong told the San Mateo Gazette.
