Battery Win at Vancouver, 2-1
|
Charleston and Vancouver played a hard-fought contest.
The Charleston Battery got a magnificent performance from pitcher Sake Bravenboer, who muffled the Vancouver offense en route to a tight 2-1 Battery win at Wolf Den in Vancouver. Charleston, now 12-7, has played well in the early going.
The Grey Wolves had been locked in a 1-1 tie with the Battery going into the top of the fifth inning. That changed quickly when the 30-year old first baseman Rodger Parsons came to the plate. Parsons hit a solo home run on a 0-1 slider from Vancouver hurler Todd Wallace. It was Parsons's 3rd home run of the year.
"Both teams played hard," said Charleston manager Don Lookingbill.
