Detroit got a terrific performance from pitcher Carlos Sandoval, but it wasn't enough to beat the Thunder Bay Northern Lions BC. Thunder Bay won the Detroit Stadium contest, 4-2. Sandoval threw 7.1 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. The win puts Thunder Bay at 3-4.

Thunder Bay used the timely hitting of Marcantonio Talamante to capture the win. The left fielder socked a 2-run home run in the top of the 12th inning to put the Northern Lions BC ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 5 at-bats, but it was a big one.

"We'll savor this win," Talamante told the Thunder Bay Bulletin, "then get ready for the next game."
