Mockingbirds Snag 5-2 Win
Boston wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher César Pinto, falling to the Mississippi Mockingbirds, 5-2. Pinto threw 7.0 innings of shutout ball for the losing team. Eric Blevins snagged the win in relief. In 1.1 innings, the right-hander allowed 1 run on 1 hit. He's now 1-0 on the season. The win gives Mississippi a season record of 11-11.

Mississippi used the timely hitting of Ramón Gabriel to seize the win. The third baseman stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Mockingbirds on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"I felt we were ready to go," said Mississippi manager Beau Carsten. "Our pregame was pretty good."
