García Whacks 3 out of the Park for Ladue
Tuesday, September 5th , 2051
Ladue Rams right fielder Greg García sensed he was going to have a good day at the plate, but he still might have underestimated it a little.
Prior to the start of today's contest with the Capital Hill Interns, García told teammates he was sure he would hit a home run. He did -- three times.
"During batting practice I really had my swing down pat," he recalled. "I felt some thunder in the lumber."
The big day from García pushed the Rams past the Interns, 17-1. To go along with the homers, he collected 7 RBIs and scored 4 runs.
"I was seeing good, feeling good and swinging good," García told reporters after the game.
Greg García hit a two-run home run off Menno Blankendaal in the 1st, struck out in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Jorge Ramírez in the 4th, walked in the 6th, hit a two-run home run off Alejandro Durán in the 7th, singled in the 8th and hit a two-run single in the 9th.
This season García is hitting .280 with 16 home runs.
