Harbor Whales End van den Burgt's Streak Friday, August 18th , 2051 Lady Luck was not on the side of Kjeld van den Burgt or his teammates today at Ballpark of Robbins. Everything went the way of the Greenport Harbor Whales, who not only came away with the 5-0 victory over Surprise, but also held van den Burgt hitless in 2 at-bats to put an end to his 25-game hitting streak. "It was a good run," van den Burgt said afterward. "It would be much easier to take right now if we had won." Thus far this season in 80 games van den Burgt is batting .292 with 5 home runs, 25 RBIs and 55 runs scored. He has 94 hits in 322 at-bats. |
