Mack Untouchable, Tosses No-Hitter
Wednesday, July 5th , 2051
The Beaumont Crossbeaus relied on no-hit stuff from starter Jim Mack to defeat the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish 2-0 at The Target today.
"It's quite a thrill," Mack told the media afterward. "This is a top-notch league. A no-hitter against any team in the league is something special. I can't believe I did it."
To get his name logged in the USPL Low A records, he stopped Plattsburgh cold and hitless, surrendering 3 walks and fanning 17 of the 29 batters he faced.
Beaumont manager Stephen Richards was in a jovial mode after the game, kidding with reporters that Mack "made managing easy today."
"I didn't have hardly any decisions to make like I usually do," he said. "I didn't even have to come up with a pinch hitter."
This season Mack has worked 62.2 innings with 72 strikeouts en route to a 4-6 record and a 4.31 ERA.
