3 Roundtrippers for Layug
Thursday, September 21st , 2051
Players don't hit three home runs in a game very often and when they do, it is something to celebrate. After today, Luzvimindo Layug can celebrate.
The Minnesota Loons center fielder powered three into the stands at Field of Plenty today against the Providence Pilgrims.
"It's rare that you actually try to hit a home run," Layug told reporters after the game. "Most of the time you fail, if you really try to hit one. But today, I was really trying on that last one."
In all, he was 3-for-4 as the Loons toppled Providence by a score of 6-4, knocking in 3 runs and scoring 3 times.
"He is blessed with a natural home run swing," Minnesota manager Eddie O'Bryan said. "He gets the ball up in the air."
Luzvimindo Layug grounded out in the 1st, hit a solo-shot off Mark Hogan in the 3rd, walked in the 5th, hit a solo-shot off Mark Hogan in the 7th and hit a solo-shot off Juan Morales in the 9th.
