Boyd Belts 3 HR Against Westwood Wednesday, August 9th , 2051 Brian Boyd went on an explosive hitting spree against the Westwood Sixshooters at Sixshooters Stadium today, launching a trio of blasts to lead the Minnesota Loons to the 9-1 win. The third baseman finished 3-for-3 with 3 runs scored and 5 runs batted in. "It was just one of those days," Boyd said in a postgame interview. "I don't know how to explain it. I'm just putting a good swing on the ball." Westwood skipper Héctor Montoya said Boyd was "locked-in." "We made some pretty good pitches," he said. "Those first two homers were exactly where the pitcher wanted to put them. He's just hot right now -- you've just got to tip your hat to him." Brian Boyd hit a two-run home run off Gus Clark in the 2nd, hit a solo-shot off Gus Clark in the 4th and hit a two-run home run off Jimmy McDonald in the 5th. This season Boyd is swinging the bat at a .400 rate with 16 hits in 40 at-bats. To date he has hit 3 home runs, scored 5 runs and driven in 13. |
