Gaufi Collects Cycle
Tuesday, June 13th , 2051
In an outing that will go down in the annals of baseball history, Colorado first baseman Alanzo Gaufi hit for the cycle today as the Billy Goats marched to victory over the Las Vegas Flamingos, 4-3.
Gaufi collected 4 hits in 4 at-bats, including 1 single, 1 double, 1 triple and 1 home run. He added 1 RBI and 2 runs scored to help Colorado take the The Strip contest.
"It was the last thing on my mind, really," Gaufi said. "I'm out there trying to get a blooper or a walk or whatever might help the team. Even if I had wanted to, hitting for the cycle is probably as much about luck as about skill anyway."
Alanzo Gaufi hit a solo-shot off Sergio Tacuri in the 1st, doubled in the 3rd, tripled in the 6th and singled in the 8th.
This season Gaufi has banged out 29 hits in 122 at-bats for a .238 average with 9 home runs. He is getting on base at a .340 pace and his totals also include 20 RBIs and 20 runs scored.
