Raucous Asheville Park Crowd Propels Highlanders to 9-5 Victory; Series Tied at 1
|
The Asheville Highlanders got a desperately needed win against the Pine Island Dolphins today to move into a 1-1 tie in the best-of-3 SL AA Championship. The star of the 9-5 win at Asheville Park was Asheville left-hander Andrew Stockton, who was 1 for 2 with 3 walks. He scored 4 times. The Highlanders and Dolphins will next meet in a decisive Game 3.
José Arizandieta helped out the Asheville cause in the bottom of the third inning with a run-scoring ground out. For the game, the catcher drove in one run.
"The boys were really swinging the bats today," winning manager Don Thomas said.
The next game is set to be played for Sunday, September 24th , 2051 at Goodyear Hanger Dome in Pine Island Center.
