Angel Kitties Edge Rams 3-2 to Open R1
|
The Bethlehem Angel Kitties powered past the hometown Ladue Rams, 3-2, in the opener of the 3L R Championship at Ballpark of Wellsville today. Bethlehem starting pitcher Irving Lewis threw 5.2 innings of 2-hit ball, to lead the charge. The Angel Kitties now lead the series 1-0.
Who knows how it might've ended, had it not been for Daniel Zarate? The Bethlehem designated hitter had a run-scoring single in the top of the sixth inning to put the Angel Kitties on top, 3-1. For the game, Zarate had 1 double and 1 single in 6 at-bats.
"The competition leap this year was tough to adjust to and I feel like there has been another jump in the playoffs," said Zarate, a rookie this season. "You're only playing the best now and everyone has time to rest and prepare for you."
The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Ballpark of Wellsville in Ladue.
