Road Win Lifts Matlacha to 1-0 Lead in R1
The 23-year-old rookie on the mound turned out to be the least of the Columbia River Rats worries.

Giving a high-pressure playoff start to youngster Bob O'Slattery seemed like a risky move for the River Rats, but it was one of the few things that went right at Columbia Stadium today. O'Slattery tossed 7.1 solid innings, but it was all for naught after Columbia dropped a 4-1 decision. With the win, Matlacha took a 1-0 lead in the best-of-3 SL A Championship.

Don Turner hit a run-scoring triple off Bob O'Slattery in the top of the fifth, which put the Manatees in front, 1-0. Turner had 1 walk, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 1 for 3.

"It was a solid team effort and we'll try to keep this momentum going," Turner told reporters after the game.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Columbia Stadium in Columbia.
