Rainbow Mermaids Fall to Hurricanes, 4-1
|
The Cape Coral Hurricanes picked up a win at Atlantica, knocking off the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids, 4-1. On the mound for Cape Coral was right-hander Thomas Zachary, who played a pivotal role in the win. Zachary, now 6-3, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 1, walking 0, and allowing 1 run. Kenny McFadden earned the save for Cape Coral, his 15th.
Rick MacIlleriach contributed to the Cape Coral win with a 2-run home run in the top of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman had 2 hits in 5 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"Getting ahead of the hitters was the key," said Zachary.
The 7th-place Hurricanes sport a record of 33-41.
