Lakers Win, Abe belts 2 home runs
|
The MSL Echo Park Lakers downed the MSL Cape Coral Hurricanes, 6-4, at MSL Echo Park Ballpark. Yoshimatsu Abe led the way, going 2-for-4 for MSL Echo Park. Michael Temple earned the win to go to 8-1. He allowed 4 runs on 8 hits, with 2 walks and 12 strikeouts in 8 innings of work. Gilberto Flores recorded his 10th save for MSL Echo Park.
Abe contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for MSL Echo Park in the bottom of the first. With his team trailing 1-0, Abe took a slider from Luis Vélez and stroked the home run to left. His 5th home run of the season allowed the Lakers to leap in front, 3-1.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Abe told the MSL Echo Park Observer.
The third-place Lakers have won 4 consecutive games.
