Andrew Johnson was outstanding against Northern Virginia. The left-hander, who is tied for 6th in the SL with a 10 quality starts, had a changeup that was virtually unhittable at times. The result was a Leviathan 4-3 win. The winning pitcher was Johnson, now 4-5. He tossed 8 innings of 3-hit ball, while walking 2 and fanning 11. Nicolaas Eland got credit for the save for Nova Scotia. It was his 8th of the year.
Juan Barrón was 1-3 with a walk for Nova Scotia. The slick-fielding second baseman had a key at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two out and the bases loaded, he broke a 3-3 tie with a run-scoring walk off Sean Murphy. It was his 17th walk of the season.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Barrón told the Nova Scotia Observer.
The Leviathan, at 27-39, sit in 8th place in the Silver League.
