Clutch Hitting Delivers Win for Cattlemen
|
Getting an impressive start from Chase Davis, Ft. Worth beat Echo Park by the score of 2-1. Ft. Worth reliever Henry Davis picked up the win to move to 2-3. Cullen Taylor suffered the loss. Pat Martin finished the game for Ft. Worth and earned his 18th save.
Ft. Worth used the clutch hitting of Tom Smythe to snag the win. The right fielder drilled a solo home run in the top of the eighth inning to put the Cattlemen ahead, 2-1. It was his lone hit in 4 at-bats, but it was a crucial one.
"This was a tough loss," said Echo Park manager Jordan Calhoun. "It'll stick in my craw for a while."
At 28-29, the Cattlemen claim 6th place in the Silver League.
