Rainbow Mermaids Topple Flamingos, 4-3
|
The Strip was the site of an exciting ballgame between the Northern Virginia Rainbow Mermaids and Las Vegas Flamingos.
Northern Virginia rode a decent outing from starter Mike Bergquist to victory over the Las Vegas Flamingos. The final score was 4-3. Bergquist went 6 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 3, and struck out 5. His record improves to 3-3.
Northern Virginia relied on the hitting of Rubén Cervantes to pick up the win. The third baseman clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Rainbow Mermaids on top, 2-1. For the game, Cervantes had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
After the game, Northern Virginia manager David Lister applauded the team's effort. "They busted their tails out there," he said.
The Rainbow Mermaids go to 20-35, putting them 9th in the Silver League.
