The Cattlemen faced a stiff challenge from Seattle pitcher Wing-fung Quan, but persevered to claim a win at The Cattle Pen. The final score was 2-1. Quan went 6 innings and allowed 2 runs. Ray Harrison got credit for the win, improving to 3-2. He allowed 1 run on 6 hits in 5.1 innings. Pat Martin picked up the save, his 17th.
Tom Smythe, who leads the SL in doubles with 18, chipped in for Ft. Worth with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the third. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"The old adage is true," said Smythe. "Good pitching stops good hitting."
