Foresters Stadium was the site of a competitive game between the Moose Jaw Canucks and Ellesmere Island Snowpeople.
Moose Jaw wasted a solid 6-inning effort from starting pitcher Joe Gunn, losing to Ellesmere Island, 2-1, at Foresters Stadium. Ellesmere Island reliever Ánibal Correa was the winner. His record is now 5-3. The losing pitcher was Hai-feng Mok. Francisco Cortés recorded the save for Ellesmere Island, his 19th of the season.
Runs were scarce in this one. So, Ken Payton's at-bat in the top of the ninth was vitally important. With two out, the Ellesmere Island designated hitter reached on an error by the SS, driving in 1 run, to give his team a 2-1 lead.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Dan Fletcher.
Ellesmere Island has now won 4 straight.
