Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Ellesmere Island Snowpeople got the win.
Ellesmere Island turned a good effort from starter Tom Evans into a win over the Tijuana Toros at Toros Ballpark. The final score was 4-2. Francisco Cortés recorded the save, his 18th.
In the top of the first, Felipe Madrid ambushed a 2-1 fastball from Dave Bishop and hit a 2-run home run. It gave Ellesmere Island a quick 2-0 lead.
"It takes a lot of things to win a ballgame," said Ellesmere Island manager Dale Sunter. "It's usually not just one thing."
Their 37-31 record puts the Snowpeople 4th in the Menard's Low A.
