Interns Topple Toros, 3-2

The Capital Hill Interns topped the Tijuana Toros, 3-2, in M3L Low A action at Alouettes Ballpark. The standout performance belonged to Capital Hill pitcher and Buenavista, Colombia, native Jaime López. Aaron Richardson, 2-1, earned the win in relief. He allowed 1 run on 2 hits in 1.1 innings. Bill Joseph earned save number 12 this season.
In the bottom of the sixth, Capital Hill designated hitter Steve Lyre put his team on top. With one out and runners on 1st and 2nd, he hit his 1st home run of the year. Tijuana pitcher António Gutiérrez served it up. Just like that, the Interns were ahead, 3-1.
"We'll build on this win," said Lyre.
The victory puts Capital Hill at 19-29.
