Alejo Leads Octopi to Win
The Ogallala Octopi and Long Island Ducks lit up the scoreboard.

The Ogallala Octopi beat the Long Island Ducks, 15-9, at Nebraska Aquarium. Ogallala catcher Javier Alejo had an outstanding performance. He was 3 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 3 RBI and scoring twice. The winning pitcher was Barry Cuda. He tossed 94 pitches over 5 innings, allowing 5 runs on 4 hits.

Alejo contributed a big hit, a 2-run home run, for Ogallala in the bottom of the third. With his team trailing 4-3, Alejo took a fastball from Edward Cooke and stroked the home run to left-center. His 4th home run of the season allowed the Octopi to leap in front, 5-4.

"It was one of those games where both teams were swinging the bat well," Alejo said.

The 10th-place Octopi raised their record to 13-18.
