Shockers Top Warheads, 7-3
|
Surprise picked up a win at Shockers Field, toppling the Amarillo Warheads, 7-3. Pitcher Sae-wan Kim was one of the reasons the Shockers triumphed. Kim went 6.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 6 hits, walked 3, and struck out 6. His record improves to 1-0. Iván Nagel collected save number 1.
The Warheads had been locked in a 2-2 tie with the Shockers going into the bottom of the sixth inning. That changed quickly when the 20-year old shortstop José Randín came to the plate. Randín hit a bases-clearing double on a first pitch fastball from Amarillo hurler António Gómez. It was Randín's 6th double of the year.
"Hustle and hard work is a big part of our success," said Kim. "Those qualities define our team."
At 49-43, the Shockers find themselves in 4th place in the Silver Low A.
