The Tijuana Toros picked up a win at Toros Ballpark, knocking off the Ogallala Octopi, 3-2. On the mound for Tijuana was right-hander Dave Bishop, who played a pivotal role in the win. Tijuana reliever Larry Lyons picked up the win to move to 1-0. Jake Hammond suffered the loss. Michael Humphreys got credit for the save for Tijuana. It was his 4th of the year.
Herman Verboven found himself in a pressure situation in the bottom of the eighth. Facing Ogallala hurler Jake Hammond, the 19-year-old center fielder hit a sacrifice fly. His 9th RBI of the season put the Toros on top, 3-2.
"There are no moral victories," said losing manager Félix Cruz.
Tijuana is in 10th place in the Menard's Low A with a record of 8-13.
