Uruguayans Sneak Past Sea Dogs, 5-4
|
Maine got a terrific game from left fielder Bill Benson. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Germantown, 5-4. Benson went 2 for 4 with a home run and 3 walks. Germantown goes to 30-39, Maine to 32-37.
Germantown won the game in the bottom of the 11th inning. With one out and Gary Nicholson on the mound for Maine, right fielder Quintiliano Alkain hit a dramatic solo home run, bringing Uruguayans fans to their feet.
"Our guys just had that look of determination," said winning manager Tabor de Maria.
