Tight Tilt Goes to Warheads, 3-2
|
The Amarillo Warheads had to overcome a fine performance from Tulsa pitcher Charles Lawrence to grab a 3-2 win at Ballpark of Henderson. Lawrence allowed 2 runs over 5.2 innings. The winner in relief was Luis Guevara. The left-hander allowed no runs on 1 hit in 2 innings. He now owns a record of 3-1. Gustavo Villa, summoned from the bullpen, notched his 3rd save.
Wayne Schmidt broke a 2-2 tie in the bottom of the seventh with a run-scoring sacrifice fly. It put the Warheads in front, 3-2. For the game, Schmidt went 1-3.
"We made a couple of mistakes," said Tulsa skipper Ben Cooper, "and it cost us."
Amarillo is now 24-32, Tulsa 22-34.
