Shockers Beat Amarillo, 3-2
|
Surprise right-hander Al Leonard helped his team edge Amarillo by the score of 3-2. Leonard kept the opposing lineup in check. Héctor Salas was called on to finish, recording his 12th save. Surprise is 4th in the Silver Low A with a record of 21-17.
Surprise took a 3-2 lead on Justin Johnston's 10th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Johnston hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Amarillo pitcher Viljami Sala shaking his head.
Johnston said the team appreciates the support from the fans. "I'm glad we could reward them with a good win," he said after the game.
