Harbor Whales Snag 4-2 Win
|
Bompton wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Eddie Walden, falling to the Greenport Harbor Whales, 4-2. Walden threw 8.0 innings of 2-hit ball for the losing team. Tsunayoshi Kohara was called on to finish, recording his 4th save. Greenport, at 10-25, holds down last place in the Silver Low A.
Greenport used the clutch hitting of Miguel Beci to capture the win. The pinch hitter drilled a 2-run home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Harbor Whales ahead, 4-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a big one.
"Glad to get this win," said Beci. "But we need to keep playing at a high level."
