Behind an impressive start by Ken Leuthold, Bompton beat Memphis, 2-1. In 6.1 innings, Leuthold surrendered 6 hits, while striking out 7 and walking 1. He allowed 1 run. Jonathan Alexander earned the save for Bompton, his 7th of the year.
Shu-yen Fu came through for Bompton when he hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the fourth. With the bases loaded, he hit a two-strike fastball to left field, staking his team to a 2-1 lead.
"If I go out there and help the team win, that's all you can do," said Leuthold.
Bompton, at 14-13, holds down 6th place in the Silver Low A.
