The Hudsonville Flanderses extended their winning streak.
Hudsonville Flanderses starter Jeff Phillips was in a rhythm all game. He led his team to a win over the Athletic Club KC U-21, 6-0. Phillips, now 8-2, was the winner. In 5.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 0, and allowing no runs. Picking up the save was Thaddeus Alambra, his 3rd.
It could have been a different outcome for Hudsonville, had it not been for Gilberto Gómez, the slick-fielding shortstop . Gómez contributed a run-scoring ground out in the top of the third inning to put Hudsonville up, 1-0.
"Hitting, winning. It's just contagious," said Phillips.
The Flanderses go to 55-31, putting them second in the Premier Low A.
