Beaumont Wins, Taylor goes 3-for-4
Getting a good performance from first baseman Herman Taylor, the Beaumont Crossbeaus defeated the Quebec City Baby Blues, 7-4. Taylor went 3 for 4 with a home run, a double, and a walk, while scoring 3 runs and driving in 2 for the Crossbeaus. Eduardo Sánchez got credit for the win, improving to 8-8. He allowed 1 run on 7 hits in 5.2 innings. Rusty Collins earned the save for Beaumont, his 10th of the year.

Beaumont used a well-timed hit by Robert Lancaster to capture the win. The third baseman socked a 2-run double in the top of the second inning to put the Crossbeaus ahead, 2-0. Though it was his only hit in 5 at-bats, it was important.

In comments to the Beaumont Chronicle, Taylor admitted he's been told to improve his work habits. "But," he said, "I know when to take it to another gear."

The 9th-place Crossbeaus are 33-52.
