Piranhas Subdue Leviathan, 4-3
|
The Panama City Piranhas scored a tight 4-3 win versus the Nova Scotia Leviathan at The Tank. Panama City pitcher Anthony Carney held his own in the contest. Carney, now 2-0, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 10 hits, while striking out 1, walking 1, and allowing 3 runs. Arthur Anderson earned the save for Panama City, his 7th.
Amani Marwan had a big 2-run home run for the Piranhas in the bottom of the fifth inning. With Panama City trailing 2-1 and a runner on 1st, he got a slider from Tomás Ramírez and swatted a home run to center. It was his 10th home run of the season, and more importantly, it put the Piranhas ahead, 3-2.
"Enjoyed this one," Marwan told the Panama City Times. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
Panama City, at 21-10, sits in first place in the Silver League.
