Greenport picked up a win at Ballpark of Robbins, bumping off the Germantown Uruguayans, 3-2. Pitcher Qing-hua Du was a major reason the Harbor Whales emerged victorious. Du went 7.2 innings to notch the win. He scattered 5 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 1-0. Tsunayoshi Kohara recorded the save, his 1st.
Caspar Lau contributed to the Greenport win with a 2-run home run in the bottom of the second. For the game, the right fielder had 2 hits in 4 at-bats with 1 home run, 1 single, 1 run scored, and 2 runs batted in.
"We faced good pitching and still got it done," said Lau.
The loss puts Germantown at 1-1.
