Johns Leads Fort Knox Past Plattsburgh
|
The Fort Knox Centennial beat the Plattsburgh Puffer Fish, 4-0, at Ballpark of Baxter. Starting pitcher Matt Johns was a big reason why. He held his opponent in check all game. Fort Knox is first in the Premier Low A with a record of 48-14.
It was an impressive outing from the soft-spoken Johns, who tallied 9 strikeouts in 6 innings and allowed only 1 hit. Johns, who is tied for 2nd in the PA- in strikeouts with 103, raised his record to 8-0 on the year with 103 strikeouts.
"I'm not out there for personal accomplishments," Johns told a Fort Knox Observer reporter after the game. "I'm out there to help the team win, and that's what we did today."
