Voodoo Suffer 6-5 Setback
The San Mateo Dirty Reds trumped the New Orleans Voodoo, 6-5, at Lang Park. San Mateo right fielder Marcos Janero was terrific. He went 3-5 with 3 singles. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. The winner was San Mateo reliever Eugene Phillips, now 1-1. The loser was Tim Strong. The Voodoo, now 5-9, continue their sluggish start.

In the bottom of the ninth, with two out and the game tied, 5-5, third baseman Francisco Alhama won it for San Mateo. With the bases loaded, Alhama hit a 2-2 sinker from Tim Strong for a run-scoring single, giving his team the 6-5 win.

"This place was rockin'," said Alhama.
