Blaze Get One-Run Win at Laredo
|
The Laredo Hawks wasted an inspired, 8-inning effort from starter Jim McKee, falling 1-0 to the South Beach Blaze at Hawks Field. South Beach reliever Pedro Salazar was credited with the win, to go to 4-1. Jim McKee took the loss for Laredo. Masafumi Yoshino earned the save for South Beach, his 3rd.
South Beach used a well-timed hit by Noel Higgins to capture the win. The shortstop socked a run-scoring double in the top of the sixth inning to put the Blaze ahead, 1-0. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"We did just enough to win," Higgins said.
After today's action, South Beach sits at 52-31; Laredo slips to 40-43.
