|
Myrtle Beach got a terrific game from right fielder Richie Vickers. It wasn't enough, though, to prevent the team from falling to Lake Erie, 7-6. Vickers went 3-5 with a home run and a triple, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. With the win, the Arryns have a record of 43-40.
Had Nelson Fernández not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and runners on 1st and 2nd, Fernández hit a run-scoring single. That made the score 7-6, in favor of the Arryns.
"Nothing is scripted in this game," said Fernández.
