Streaking Cajuns Win Another One, 5-2
|
Behind the hitting of Umberto Bartelen, the Crowley Cajuns stopped the Hicksville Hounds, 5-2. Bartelen went 2 for 2 with a home run and 2 walks. He drove in 2 runs and scored once for the Cajuns. Tomás Velásquez, now 1-0, picked up the win in relief. He allowed no runs on 1 hit in 3.2 innings. Junior Clark was called on to finish, recording his 5th save.
Pepe Santos aided the Crowley cause with a run-scoring ground out in the bottom of the first. For the game, the designated hitter went 1-4.
"We believe in ourselves and we're willing to work hard. It's a good combination," Santos told the Crowley Daily News.
Crowley, now 12-4, is playing great baseball to start the year.
