3-2 Loss to Arryns Extends Huntington Losing Streak
|
The Arryns grabbed a win, 3-2, at The Shell, overcoming a fine effort from Huntington pitcher Carlos Cruz. Cruz went 9 innings and allowed 3 runs. Luis Martínez, who went 6.1 innings, was the winning pitcher. He was charged with 2 runs on 1 hit, while walking 6 and striking out 3. His record now stands at 8-1. Earning his 16th save for Lake Erie was Emery Kehler.
The Arryns got a big hit from shortstop Nelson Fernández. In the top of the sixth, Fernández pounded a 2-run home run to left. His 21st home run of the season put the Arryns ahead, 3-0.
"If you ever get this game figured out," said Huntington manager Mike Evans, "let me know."
The win gives Lake Erie a season record of 37-35.
